Moolank, Bhagyank, Vedic grid, yogs, Mahadasha, personal year and name number, from your name and date of birth.

How this numerology calculator works

The calculator uses Vedic (Indian) numerology for the date of birth and Chaldean numerology for the name, the same rules used in Numank consultations in Bangalore. Your details stay in your browser; nothing is stored.

Moolank (root number)

The day of birth reduced to a single digit. Born on the 21st: 2 + 1 = 3. Born on the 29th: 2 + 9 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2. It describes your nature and is ruled by a planet: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars.

Bhagyank (destiny number)

All digits of the full date of birth added and reduced. For 21-11-1984: 2+1+1+1+1+9+8+4 = 27, 2 + 7 = 9. It shows the direction of life and carries the most weight in the grid.

The Vedic grid

The digits of the date, without the century (for 1984 only 8 and 4 are used), are placed in a 3×3 grid laid out 3-1-9 / 6-7-5 / 2-8-4. The Bhagyank is always added; the Moolank is added only when the birth day has two non-zero digits (11 to 31, except 20 and 30), because for other days its digit is already in the date. Zeros are ignored. A complete row, column or diagonal forms a yog, such as 3-1-9 (Intellectual Yog) or 6-7-5 (Business Success Yog).

Mahadasha and personal year

The first Mahadasha is the Moolank, lasting that many years from birth; then the next number follows for its own number of years (after 9 comes 1). The personal year (Antardasha) runs from one birthday to the next: the last two digits of the year + Moolank + birth month + the number of the weekday of that year’s birthday (Sunday 1, Monday 2, Tuesday 9, Wednesday 5, Thursday 3, Friday 6, Saturday 8), reduced to one digit.

Name number (Chaldean)

Each letter has a value: A I J Q Y = 1, B K R = 2, C G L S = 3, D M T = 4, E H N X = 5, U V W = 6, O Z = 7, F P = 8. The total of the name you use, before reducing, is read as a compound number (for example 19, 23 and 32 are considered favourable, 16, 18 and 29 difficult). The reduced number should be friendly to your Bhagyank.

Questions

How do I calculate my Moolank?
Add the digits of your day of birth until one digit is left. Born on the 14th: 1 + 4 = 5, so your Moolank is 5 (Mercury).
How do I calculate my Bhagyank or destiny number?
Add every digit of your full date of birth and reduce to one digit. For 05-06-1972: 0+5+0+6+1+9+7+2 = 30, 3 + 0 = 3.
Why is the century (19 or 20) left out of the grid?
In Vedic numerology the grid uses the day, month and the last two digits of the year, so the 19 or 20 of the century does not add digits to the grid. The Bhagyank still uses the full date.
What does a missing number mean?
A number missing from the grid shows a quality that has to be developed or supported, for example through the name, mobile number or remedies. The dashas can fill a missing number for a period.
Is this free calculator enough for name correction?
It shows your current name number and its reading. A name correction also checks the Moolank, Bhagyank, grid and planned spellings together, which is done in a consultation.
